What We Do
Pregnancy Health
Partnering with you throughout all stages of your pregnancy, and growing with you as your needs grow in importance. Assisting with your birthing plan as needed. The health of you and your baby are the greatest priority, as we make your birthing vision a reality. During prenatal visits with me as your birth doula, we’ll work on comfort measures, and prepare for your big day. On the big day, I will be fully present through it all. After the baby is here, we will continue our work to make sure you and the baby are comfortable, healthy, and happy.
Labor and Birth
Having a baby should be a positive experience, so our main focus is to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to bring your baby into the world and begin bonding immediately. The comaraderie between the members of your birthing team is very imperative. We will work together to ensure that there is a welcoming space during this time.
Postpartum and Newborn Care
Our job isn’t done once delivery is over. As a part of your team, I would like to stay in contact for at least one meeting to help with you any concerns regarding breastfeeding or adjusting with your new family member, role, or any concerns that may arise. If I don't have the initial answers, I will do my best to research and consult resources to provide any assistance you need for healthy development.
About Me
Who am I?
From Southern California, I have always had a fascination with birth and wellness. Professionally, I have been working in education for the last 10 years, specifically with the Deaf community. I have dedicated my existence to a lifelong journey of learning and education. First with Pre-Medical education, to biology, K-12 Deaf education, and now to birth work. As a person of color.. a Black woman, I know how important it is to feel represented. This is why I originally moved into education, being from a community that wasn't preferable and treated as such, I didn't know there was a better way, or that higher education was even a possibility for me. Lack of education often means that there is room for peoples agenda to be put ahead of your own. In that way, let's learn together. Your birth goals are very important. I want to make your pregnancy dream come true. Let's learn together. It is important to be supported by someone that looks like you, that understands your needs, and that is willing to be your advocate.
Birth Doula
A birth doula is a great asset in labor support. We provide reassurance. Because we know that birth is such an important part of your experience, we provide emotional support, whenever needed. This could be before, during and after birth. We are knowledgable about the birthing process, and can provide tips to help comfort. We have access to local resources when needed. My role would be to fully accept and assist in carrying out your desires for your pregnancy and birth plan to the best of my ability, and be a calming presence.
Lactation Consultant
I have obtained DONA approved training on lactation, taught by a well experienced DONA certified Doula and birthing educator.
